For easy printing and assembling the model is made hollow and divided into component parts. This allows you to print the details without first dividing them into smaller parts. The wall thickness varies from 1.5 to 2 mm, maximal dimension of separate part does not exceed 150 mm.
A VERY DETAILED model of the Millennium Falcon in Solid Works 2013. The model is designed as subassemblies. Each part is designed so that it can be printed in a personal 3D printer without the need for supports, except the radar and the main cockpit (you need to be creative or break them down to pieces). A full assembly is also included as guide to assembling the pieces. Because of the details, it is better to print the parts as big as possible. That is why the main body is broken down to 4 sections. I printed mine at 2X the scale and the complete model is just over 30 inches. Also included in the download are the STL files which can be imported into 3DMax, Maya, Rhino, etc. (please see attached pdf instructions)
I am currently printing this on its side with the cockpit at the highest point of the print, i'll print it laying down flat next to see what yields the best print, but I feel the cut up version might be worth waiting for as this is a challenging print.
